2 Minute Interview:
How does your workshop relate to being in the NOW?
We talk a lot about being more present but it can be hard to tune into how you’re really feeling. The goal of this session is to give us all a bit more of a framework for thinking about what we’re feeling, to help us notice when we feel good or bad, and take action to manage ourselves better. The more we know, the more we notice, and the more aware we can become.
What are you most looking forward to doing within your slot at NOW?
I’m particularly looking forward to hearing what people do to manage their moods. Some people say ‘worthy’ things like yoga and meditation, but I’m hoping people will be a bit more honest and admit they like drinking wine and eating chocolate! After all, we don’t do those things for our physical health, so discussing the mental benefits is a good way to understand why we do the things we do, and perhaps get a bit more control over how we manage ourselves.
Any tips on how the audience can most benefit from your workshop?
It might be helpful to think about your emotional state beforehand and how your moods vary from day to day – but the best thing to do is bring your mind along and concentrate on the session, and hopefully you will leave feeling a little enlightened, or at least entertained.
At Deptford Lounge:
Master Your Moods
Our moods and emotions affect our wellbeing, behaviour and even how we see the world. Yet most of the time, we aren’t particularly aware of what we are feeling, or how we can manage our moods to stay healthy and effective in our life and work. Andy Gibson, Head Gardener at Mindapples, will be talking us through the basic psychology of mood and emotion, offering a model for tuning into your moods more effectively, and discussing what we can all do to manage our moods to keep ourselves in good emotional health. Mindapples training sessions are currently only being run inside businesses like JP Morgan and L’Oreal, so this is a great opportunity to hear this content in a different context and learn more about your mind and how to use it.
