2 Minute Interview:
How does your workshop relate to being in the NOW?
Creating sculpture by hand without looking at what you’re doing is a great way to focus your attention on your subject, studying the contours of their faces and focussing on the details most of us don’t notice day to day. The process of moulding clay by hand is a very peaceful and sensory experience where your sense of touch is your only way to create and totally focusses you on the present moment.
What are you most looking forward to doing within your slot at NOW?
I can’t wait to see what the outcome of this workshop will be! There will be some strange looking objects – for sure – but the overall project will create a mass portrait of the local community and everyone that takes part which will be displayed in the Deptford Lounge foyer.
Any tips on how the audience can most benefit from your workshop?
I’d say first and foremost have fun, but focussing your attention on a single task can be a very therapeutic activity, taking your brain away from day to day stress and distraction. Just relax and enjoy and hopefully leave feeling inspired to create!
